Paint has a life of its own, often leading somewhere I hadn't intended

I'm an abstract painter based in London. Acrylic is my medium of choice, and my painting is characterized by two distinct styles.

In the first style, I focus on the way light plays across a scene, blurring the image with a loose herringbone brushstroke. I intentionally tease colour out, ensuring the finished painting results in a high contrast colourscape.

In the second style, I use a methodical approach to explore the interaction and imperfection of individual brushstrokes. With no planned end result, these paintings are composed from the rules set out at their start.

Separately, I am a practicing architect in the UK, balancing the grand scale of architecture with the intricate details of my art. My influences span a wide spectrum of creators who, like me, are process-driven.

Painting and architecture continually inform one another, giving me different ways to think, make and explore.
